Maxim has introduced a CASHLESS PAYMENT system for rides in South Africa.

Maxim, a ride-hailing and delivery service, has introduced a cashless payment option for its services in South Africa, enhancing transaction speed and safety for both users and driver partners.

How to Enable Cashless Payments:

Users can activate this feature by adding their bank card details within the Maxim app:

  1. Open the app's menu.
  2. Navigate to the "Non-cash payment" section.
  3. Select "Bank cards" and input your card information.

Once added, payments for future orders will be automatically deducted from the user's account and credited to the driver-partner, eliminating the need for cash transactions.

Benefits of the Cashless System:

  • Simplicity: Users only need to add their bank card once, streamlining the payment process for subsequent rides or deliveries.
  • Safety: Digital payments reduce the risks associated with carrying cash. All transactions are processed by a partner bank, safeguarding against fraud and personal data theft.

Quinten De Kock, head of Maxim Cape Town, stated, "Launching the acquiring system in South Africa is an important milestone for Maxim, as it aligns with global digital payment and service digitalization trends. We are confident this initiative will make our services even more convenient and accessible for everyone."

Maxim's Presence in South Africa:

Since its launch in June 2023, Maxim has expanded its services to various cities, including:

  • Bloemfontein
  • Cape Town
  • East London
  • eMalahleni (Witbank)
  • George
  • Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth)
  • Kimberley
  • Klerksdorp
  • Mbombela
  • Middelburg
  • Mossel Bay
  • Newcastle

  • Potchefstroom

As a pioneering ride-hailing service for the mass market, Maxim offers competitive pricing, making ride-hailing, courier deliveries, and grocery or meal deliveries more accessible to individuals with varying income levels.

User Experience Enhancements:

To further improve user experience, Maxim has focused on addressing previous challenges associated with cashless payments. Efforts include offering multiple top-up options, enhancing user guidance within the app, and integrating popular payment methods to cater to diverse user preferences.

Industry Context:

The introduction of cashless payment systems in South Africa's transportation sector reflects a broader industry trend. For instance, initiatives like Waxd Solution's partnership with the taxi sector aim to transition the traditional taxi industry towards cashless operations, enhancing convenience and safety for both drivers and passengers.

Maxim's implementation of a cashless payment system marks a significant advancement in South Africa's ride-hailing industry, aligning with global digitalization trends and catering to the evolving preferences of modern consumers.
